Ziyarat from the UK, arranged end to end

For many British Muslim families a ziyarat to Iraq and Iran is among the most significant journeys they will undertake. Standing at the haram of Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala, walking through Wadi us Salaam in Najaf, or praying at the rawdah of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad carries a weight that is difficult to put into words.

Meezab Air arranges complete ziyarat packages from the UK covering Najaf, Karbala, Kazmain, Samarra, Mashhad and Qom. Flights, visas, hotels, transport and guided ziyarat are organised together, so the practical side is handled and your attention stays where it belongs.

What is a ziyarat package?

A ziyarat package is a guided pilgrimage that brings the principal holy sites of Iraq and Iran together into one organised trip. A typical package covers return flights from the UK, visa processing for both countries, hotel accommodation near the shrines, intercity transport, and a guide who leads the ziyarat dua at each site.

These tours suit anyone who wants to perform ziyarat with proper guidance — whether travelling alone, as a couple, with elderly parents, or as part of a wider family or community group.

Where you will travel

In Iraq

In Iran

Most packages cover these sites, with optional additions such as Jamkaran Mosque and time in Tehran on longer itineraries.

Package types and pricing

3-Star economy

Budget-conscious group packages with clean, comfortable hotels within walking or shuttle distance of the shrines. A sensible choice for first-time pilgrims and anyone keeping costs down without losing the religious programme.

4-Star standard

Our most-booked tier. Better-located hotels, larger rooms and fuller meal arrangements — a balanced choice for families and couples.

5-Star premium

Hotels closest to the haram of Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala and the haram of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, with private transfers and upgraded meals. Worth considering for elderly travellers, where a shorter walk matters more than any room feature.

Customised tours

Tell us your dates, group size and preferred cities and we will build a private itinerary around you. Popular with extended families and community groups travelling together.

Pricing varies with season, exchange rates and hotel availability. Send us your dates for a current quote.

Ziyarat by occasion

Places for Arbaeen and Ashura are taken months ahead. If either is your intention, speak to us early — it is the difference between travelling and not.

Group tours or a private package?

Group tours are more affordable, more sociable, and come with a fixed religious programme. They work well for friends, neighbours and members of the same Imambargah travelling together.

Private packages give you control over dates, hotels and pace — better suited to families with young children, elderly relatives, or particular dietary and mobility needs.

When to book

Muharram (Ashura), Safar (Arbaeen) and Ramadan are the peak periods, when hotel demand in Karbala and Mashhad is at its highest. Late autumn and early spring bring cooler weather, lower prices and a calmer experience at the shrines.

We would suggest three to six months ahead for peak dates, and at least eight to ten weeks for any other tour.

Departing from the UK

We arrange direct and one-stop flights from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham. Connections from other UK airports can be added on request — tell us your nearest airport when you enquire.

Travelling as a family or group

Travelling together is one of the more rewarding ways to perform ziyarat. Children learn the history of Karbala standing in the place it happened, elderly relatives are looked after, and the journey is shared.

Group rates are available for parties of ten or more, with concessions for children. We regularly arrange travel for UK Imambargahs and community organisations.
